As you know, I’ve been participating in Growing Up Geeky’s Toddle Along Tuesday Series. This week, the topic is your year in review.
The year started off on a sad note when my grandfather (pictured below) lost his battle to cancer. My grandpa was a wonderful man who was full of life and laughter and even though I miss him dearly, it’s comforting knowing that he’s no longer in pain.
We celebrated C’s first birthday at the end of February. She has grown so much this year. She started the year off just barely cruising around the furniture and still very much a baby. We conclude 2012 with a full-blown toddler in the house. She’s walking, running, jumping, talking, repeating everything, and totally amazing. I can’t wait to see what 2013 brings for her.
We traveled from our home near Kansas City to North Carolina where my brother was married in April. The wedding, which was held at an old plantation, was beautiful. It was great to spend some time with family and visit some friends along the way.
We took a trip to the Lake of The Ozarks in June where my grandfather’s ashes were spread on the lake. It was a really nice, relaxing long weekend spent with family.
After the company I worked for started having some financial troubles, they had to lay people off. I was one of the people affected by their economic hardships and suddenly found myself without a job on August 1st. Becoming a stay at home mom again was an unexpected gift. I feel like I’ve become so much closer with C over the last five months. I’m a lucky mommy, that’s for sure. We’ve had the opportunity to visit our local zoo, attend story time nearby, and have playdates with friends. Here are a few pictures:
In October we traveled to Jekyll Island, GA (you can read more about it here and here) for my husband’s family reunion. We had a blast. Here are a few pictures from our trip:
