Changing your life doesn’t happen over night so I’m taking it one step at a time…

Running

Raise your hand if there’s ever been something you wanted to accomplish but were extremely slightly afraid to get started.

I know I’ve mentioned this before (at least somewhere along the way) but I aspire to be a runner. It’s not that I want to break some sort of record or plan to complete a 26 mile Marathon one day; it’s because I know it’s something I can do if I work hard enough at making it happen. Like any change in your life, getting started is half the battle. I’m overweight, more out of shape than I should be, and slightly scared but at the end of the day, I want to know that I could survive a zombie apocalypse (which, according to my friend Sarah over at The House of Boys & A Girl, is imminent). So I’m hitting the ground running, one step at a time, in an effort to become the person I aspire to be. I’m on the hunt for a good 5k at some point this fall that I want to run (yes, run) the entire 3.2 miles and I’m looking for some of you to join me. You don’t have to be local and we don’t have to run the same 5k but I’m looking for a few people who are interested in coming along on this journey with me. We can connect on Facebook, chat via email, or update each other through my blog. You might be wondering what you’ll get in exchange for running with me. In addition to keeping one another accountable and having that incredible sense of accomplishment when it’s all said and done, I’d also like to share a Body Glide stick with two of you (who will be randomly selected from people who comment on this post). What’s Body Glide, you ask?!

Body Glide For Her

Body Glide is a company that offers products for active people.

They’ve created a line of products for men, women, and children designed to combat the effects of blisters, chafing, and muscle soreness associated with exercise. The Body Glide for Her is made from plant-based ingredients and protects the skin while still allowing it to breath and perspire. I’ve personally used the Body Glide both when working out, and when wearing things that would otherwise tend to chafe and it works really well. I like that it goes on smooth and is dry instead of greasy.

If you want to challenge yourself to become a runner, or if you are already a runner and want to take it to the next level, comment on this post and we will get this party started together.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using <a rel=”nofollow” href=”http://www.tomoson.com/?code=BOTTOM3bbdf2c7c7df9c7163c439d2952695a8″>Tomoson.com</a&gt;. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

      Speaking of zombies…

On Sunday morning, we went to drop off some books in the book return bin outside our local library. As I was pulling into the parking lot, I spotted a staggering man dragging along a case of beer at the entrance to the parking lot (it was sad). He was moving pretty slow so I figured we’d have time to get the books into the bin and pull away before he ever made it to the car. I was wrong. Like a zombie who got a whiff of fresh human blood, the man quickly made it to the back of my vehicle and then stopped. He stood there, mumbling (more of a grunt/grumble) incoherently until we were ready to leave. For the first time in my life, I think I understood how the people living in “The Walking Dead” would feel if that was reality. Yikes.

See. I am psychic. More people need to listen to me. I DECLARE THE ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE HAS BEGUN! lol (I totally am not crazy, by the way)

I may or may not have thought that when the guy down in Florida ate that homeless man’s face off. I know the news said he was on “bath salts” but I’m not so sure. 😉
