Introducing: Petbrosia (Review & Giveaway!)

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

Petbrosia Review

Happy Wednesday, Everyone! I am so excited to introduce Petbrosia, a company that I’ve come to know and love, to each of you today and (AND!!!) to be able to offer one lucky winner a FREE box of dog or cat food for your favorite furry one. Who’s excited?! Everyone?! I thought so…

If you’ve read the about me section on my blog, you know our family consists of three humans, one dog (Winnie), and a cat (Catniss). If you haven’t read it yet, that’s okay, you can go do it now…I’ll wait. {Goes and grabs a drink of water, checks Facebook} Are we good now?! Alright, awesome. Let’s chat about Petbrosia.

Petbrosia Dog and cat food review

So I kind of like my dog. She’s been a faithful companion since 2006 and, especially now that she’s older, I want her to live a long and healthy life. One the best ways that I can ensure she lives longer is to feed her healthy, nutritious food. What I enjoy most about Petbrosia is the fact that they take the guess work of selecting the right kind of food for your unique pet out. When you navigate through their website, you answer questions that select the exact food that offers complete nutrition for your specific pet based on age, weight, activity level, breed, and any health concerns your pet might have. The company prides themselves on the fact that they believe in feeding your pet the very best food with all natural meats, vegetables, and fruits. Not only that, but they also have breed specific information to help pet owners learn more about their furry friend. Take a look at what they have to say about Cocker Spaniels. Ummm, awesome.

Petbrosia-Comparison-Chart

Winnie has been eating either Purina or Science Diet for the several years and making the decision to switch meant we needed a plan to safely switch her to a healthier diet. Thankfully, Petbrosia took the guess work out for us. They provide an online guide for pet owners that gives you an outline for switching your pet’s food without making them sick.

Beyond the obvious health benefits of feeding your animal nutritious food, I really love how user friendly ordering from Petbrosia really is. Their website is easy to navigate, ordering is efficient, and delivery is fast but don’t take my word for it: You can try out Petbrosia yourself with $10 off your first order when you use the code: BRL10 at checkout. That’s not all! ONE lucky winner will get to try Petbrosia for FREE! Whhhat?! So cool, right?! To enter, click on this Rafflecopter link. Hurry, this giveaway ends on Thursday June 5th at 1:30pm CST!

Here’s the link to the giveaway one more time for good measure: >>>CLICK HERE<<< Good luck and, as always, may the odds be ever in your favor!

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

2013 Holiday Gift Guide & A $50 Gift Card Giveaway!

Fa la la la la la la la la…

2013 Holiday Gift Guide

Don’t you just love the Holiday season?!

I love cold weather. Snowfall, crisp air, and the sweet smell of a fresh Christmas tree…you’d be hard pressed to find something I don’t enjoy about winter. Today marked the first legitimately cold day here in the Kansas City metro and there’s no better way to celebrate the coming of the season than by launching the 2013 Holiday Gift Guide! Over the next couple of weeks I’ll take some time to outline some great gift ideas for your little ones this season. To kick off the series, I present you with a review and $50 gift card giveaway from For Small Hands. This company provides unique and developmentally appropriate games and activities for children ages 3 to 8 years. Their parent company, Montessori Services, has items geared towards schools. Both sites have some pretty incredible learning resources and I’m excited to present one of their most unique items to you today.

Design Your Own Lamp (Item #A503)

Image Credit: For Small Hands (Montessori Services)

For the purposes of this Gift Guide, I asked For Small Hands (Montessori Services) to send over an item that they thought would be a fun, unique gift idea for this Christmas. They sent over this really incredible design your own lamp, which I’ve fallen in love with. Here’s what they have to say about this item:

“Create a thrilling one-of-a-kind lamp with your child’s artwork. Redesign your mini-gallery as often as you (or the children) like.

‘Anything flat fits between the flame-resistant shades: fabric, postcards, wrapping paper, ribbons, sheet music, theater programs, ticket stubs… A unique gift for grandparents!”

The design your own lamp is an ideal gift for children who enjoy showcasing their favorite artwork around the house. We plan to place this lamp in our daughter’s art area of our newly finished basement (more on that later). I have no doubt that children of all ages will enjoy displaying their creativity in a way that is as unique as they are. This is also a fun gift idea for parents to put in their offices or grandparents to have at home. Standing at just over a foot high, pictures and artwork can be rotated as often as you like relatively easily. It only took me about two minutes each time I switched things up. Take a look:

A Review & Giveaway from FlattenMe Personalized Books and Gifts

Book Review and Giveaway

Reading has always been an important part of the daily routine in our household. It’s something I’ve enjoyed since childhood and knew would someday become common practice when I eventually had children of my own. When I was pregnant with C, I found myself reading to her in utero (which, now that I look back, sounds a little crazy) and that trend continued after she was born. Now that a little older, she’s better able to understand and follow sequences of events. Reading to her has transitioned from looking at pictures to enjoying (toddler appropriate) storylines. I’ve noticed that she’s started to develop a passion and love for books and reading which is probably why I was so elated for the opportunity to review a personalized book from FlattenMe.Com. The company has also graciously offered to giveaway a personalized book to one of you (more on that below).

Owl Always Love You Personalized Book

“Owl Always Love You”, written by Robyn Spizman and illustrated by Erica Leighton, is a ‘bedtime story for little night owls’ (who doesn’t love owls?!). Each page is beautifully illustrated and sends a message of abounding love for the main character (which, in my book, is my daughter). It’s a reminder to children that they are loved, always and unconditionally. The pages compare the love we have for our children to things found in nature and daily life like a cradle loving to rock, rain loving a cloud, and kites loving to fly. The message is simple and easy for children to understand: they are special and they are loved.

The hardback book is comprised of fourteen thick, easy to turn story pages each with its own unique and beautiful illustration. You can take a peek at each individual page online here. FlattenMe.com also offers personalized photo books, journals, tshirts, wall art, and more online which make for great gifts for every family member. FlattenMe has offered to host a giveaway for one lucky reader to enjoy a Keepsake personalized Owl book of their very own (less the cost of shipping, which is $3.99).

To Enter (each option earns one entry):

  • “Like” the FlattenMe Facebook page and post a message on their wall telling them that #ItsAnOrdinaryBlog sent you (be sure to use the # hashtag so I can see the post).
  • Head on over to the It’s An Ordinary Blog Facebook page and tell me what your favorite thing about the Owl Always Love You book is.
  • Leave a comment on this post telling me who you would personalize this sweet book for.

A winner will be randomly drawn on Friday November 1st. As always, good luck and my the odds be ever in your favor!

Hey, Look! It’s a Review & Giveaway from PunkHipster!

Punk Rock_star

Happy Monday, Everyone! As you may have noticed, I’ve been radio silent for the last week (more on that in a later post) but I’m back and I’m excited to introduce you to my friends over at PunkHipster (Hi Ryan!). I’m not a hipster or a punk (in fact, I’m generally uncool) but I really like this company. Why?! They’re a Missouri based small business (win!) who brings together two groups of people who are often divided by differences in culture through rare, vintage, high quality, American made, affordable leather products.

Sidenote: After reading Urban Dictionary’s definition, I guess one could define me as a hipster at heart. Though I’m fairly certain that true hipsters may not want to be “defined”, so, scratch that?! Maybe?! I don’t know…

A few fast facts about PunkHipster:

  • They’re small, they’re local (to me!).
  • They use rare, vintage leather that can only be found here in the United States.
  • Once the leather is gone, it’s gone (be unique!).
  • All of their products are 100% leather (and they smell great).

PunkHipster Giveaway

PunkHipster sent over several items for me to review. I should mention that these items were given to me free of charge (including the giveaway item) in exchange for my thoughts. I am under absolutely no obligation to write a positive review and any thoughts and opinions I express are uniquely my own. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me anytime with questions: ItsAnOrdinaryBlog@gmail.com.

Original PunkHipster Leather Key Fob

Leather Fob

I learned something new with this review (and maybe I shouldn’t admit this) but were you aware that “fob” is a fancy term for a key chain?! Well it is…

Leather Key Fobs

If you haven’t already figured this one out, PunkHipster has some pretty fantastic leather key Fobs (read: key chains) and I’m pretty excited to display two of them on my own key ring. The Original Leather Key Fob (pictured above with its friends) retails for around $35.00, is fully customizable, durable, and guaranteed to last 50 years (check back with me in 50 years for an update on that one). The second key fob (the smaller one on the left) is my absolute favorite but it’s not pictured on their website right now which means that they’ve sold out. That’s something you should know about the products that PunkHipster sells…they truly are unique in that once the leather that they’ve used for a certain product is gone, it’s gone. They’re really good about telling customers how many of a certain item is left on their website but I recommend snatching the items you love up pretty quickly before someone else does.

Fob

Here’s a closer look at my favorite key chain…I mean, leather fob.

PunkHipster

Pictured above is a 3/4″ leather cuff (also known as a bracelet, but I already knew that ;)). They have several affordable leather cuffs available on their website ranging from $29.99 to $49.99 with different options (thick, thin, studded, not studded, wrapped, not wrapped, etc) sure to please any shopper in the market for a little wrist action. You can see what it looks like on my wrist below. I’m making a fist, because I’m a badass.

PunkHipsterLeatherCuff

Now, I know you’re all dying to see the awesome chain wallet I have up for grabs, right?! {Imaginary Drum Roll}

Wait for it…

…wait for it…

Leather Chain Wallet

This leather bifold chain wallet, which retails at $59.99, uses genuine Horween leather from Chicago. The color really is very, very nice and the wallet itself seems very durable. The 15″ chain comes with a matching leather fob to attach to your belt (or to the inside of your purse, ladies ;)) and one of you can have this (along with one of my It’s An Ordinary Blog magnet business cards, get excited!).

My friends Sarah from The House Of Boys & A Girl, and Amber over at Thrifty Mom’s Reviews, both have PunkHipsters wallets of their own to giveaway (hello tripled chances!) and all you have to do is follow the link below via Rafflecopter to enter into all three. In case you’ve never entered into one of my giveaways before, Rafflecopter and WordPress don’t see eye to eye so you have to physically click on the link in order to enter. I’m sorry! I promise, it’s safe. Winners will be randomly drawn in two weeks. As always, good luck and may the odds be ever in your favor!

The Sox Box Review & Giveaway!

Let’s talk about my socks…

Strong Mama Socks

(Please ignore the adorable dog and leash in the background.)

Hello and happy Thursday, everyone! Allow me to introduce a truly inspirational business to you: Sox Box. This company, based out of California, is run by husband and wife team Vince and Athena Suich. Their mission?! To bring colorful and inspirational socks (yes, socks) to you while helping honor the men and women who dedicate their careers and their lives in service to our beautiful country. I am thrilled to be able to write a review for such an incredible company and I’m even more excited to be able to share a pair of their comfortable and fun socks with one of you!

SoxBox

I should mention that I received a pair of Strong Mama socks free of charge in exchange for my review and giveaway. I am under no obligation to write a positive review and the thoughts I express are uniquely my own. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me anytime with questions: ItsAnOrdinaryBlog@gmail.com.

Strong Mama Knee High Socks

I absolutely love inspirational attire and these socks are truly adorable. They have a pretty big selection for men, women, and children with different, positive, messages ranging from birthday socks to military themed pairs. I had a hard time narrowing down which ones I liked the most but am thrilled with how cute these pink socks are in person. They have a great “United We Run” pair that I may order in the near future but, truthfully, I love them all.

What I love even more than the message others will see when you’re out and about in your new socks is the message you send when you order from this company. 20% of every purchase goes to the Independence Fund, an organization aimed at honoring wounded warriors who have fought to protect our freedoms here at home. It’s for that reason that I really, really love this company.

Now who is ready for a giveaway?! From today until next Friday (August 23rd) you can be in the running for a pair of your very own inspirational socks. To enter, simply follow the instructions below:

1. Leave a comment on this post telling me what your favorite pair of socks are from the Sox Box.

2. Head on over to The Sox Box Facebook page and write on their timeline. Let them know what you love best about their brand and be sure to tag the @It’s An Ordinary Blog Facebook page.

3. Visit my Facebook page and tell me where you’d wear your new Sox Box socks if you’re the lucky winner.

You’ll earn one entry per method. A winner will be randomly selected, using Random.org, on Friday August 23rd. Good luck and have fun! 🙂

Zaggora Hot Pants: Review & Giveaway

If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you know that I’m on a quest towards better health (more specifically, I want to learn how to run). With this goal in mind, I’ve been on the hunt for great resources that are aimed to improve the quality of my workouts. Fast forward to the day when I ran across Zaggora. Oh, you’ve never heard of them?! Here’s a link (for you to look at after you’re done with this post, of course). Not only are their clothes aimed at helping you make the most of your workout but they’re also pretty cute. You just can’t beat that, am I right?! In the spirit of full disclosure, I should mention that my friends over at Zaggora (Hi, Dinah!) sent me a pair of their hot pant capris free of charge in exchange for my review. I am under absolutely no obligation to write a positive review and my expressed thoughts are uniquely my own. Please feel free to email me anytime (itsanordinaryblog@gmail.com) with questions. All that said, who’s ready for a review and giveaway?! Let’s go!

Zaggora Logo

I first heard about Zaggora while searching for running pants online. What attracted me to their brand, in particular, is the promise to make a workout pant that helps you maximize calorie burn while you’re wearing them (who doesn’t love that?!). You might be wondering what that means (or how that’s even possible). Essentially, Zaggora has patent pending “Celu-Lite Technology™” which is a multi-layer fabric that promises to harness the body’s natural heat during your workout to help you burn more calories (and, in turn, lose more weight). Sounds fantastic, right?!

I was elated when I heard that Zaggora was going to send me a pair of Hot Pant Capri 2.0 to try and review. So much so that I literally did a happy dance in the middle of the living room (my two year old daughter LOVED it). They ship from the UK so you should expect them to arrive within a few weeks. My first pair were somehow lost in translation (and ended up on my doorstep last week) so Dinah sent out a second pair that arrived within a week of when she sent them. When I notified Zaggora that the second pair had come out of hiding were in my hands, they gave me the go ahead to do a giveaway with them (more on that in a minute). So if you’re in the market for a size XL pair of hot pants, get excited!

My initial reaction to the pants was great. They’re comfortable and they’re cute pants. The ONLY negative (and this could totally be turned into a positive if you happen to be a fan of the show “Seinfeld”. When I walk in the pants they make a light “swhooshing” sound much like George Costanza in this clip:

Now if you don’t have thunder thighs like I do (you’ll see the picture in a second if you don’t know what I mean) you may not have the problem but, if you do, take heed. I learned that if I walk with a longer stride (read: legs further apart) they don’t make the sound and I’ve come to discover that’s an adjustment I don’t really mind all that much in a workout (you should have longer strides if you’re running anyway). The pant itself feels like it’s made out of the same material as a wetsuit but I actually enjoyed it. There was a noticeable difference working out in regular pants as opposed to wearing the hot pants doing the same activity. I noticed that I sweat a whole lot more wearing them as opposed to the alternative.

Their sizing is pretty accurate. I’m wearing a size XL in the Zaggora pants and, while they’re a little on the snug side (they’re supposed to be form fitting) they are comfortable to wear.

Zaggora

(I should mention this is a stock photo. My body doesn’t look nearly as good at this one in the pants :)).

Now for the fun part…I have an extra pair of Zaggora hot pants, in a size XL, that are up for grabs. According to Zaggora’s website, this size should fit an individual who wears either a 16 or a size 18 in US Women’s Clothing. That said, if you want in on the action, simply follow these two steps:

1. Leave a comment on THIS blog post letting me know what your favorite physical activity is and how you could benefit from wearing the hot pants while you work out.

2. Head on over to my Facebook page (make sure you “like” it) and leave me a note on the timeline. Be sure to mention that you want in on the Zaggora giveaway.

A winner from all of the entries (you get one for each of the two steps mentioned above) will be randomly selected on Friday August 16th, 2013. May the odds be ever in your favor!

Running On Empty (I’m Learning To Run + A Giveaway From Body Glide)

<a rel=”nofollow” href=”http://www.tomoson.com/?code=TOP3bbdf2c7c7df9c7163c439d2952695a8″><img style=”display: none” src=”http://www.tomoson.com/images/front/pixel.png&#8221; /></a>

Changing your life doesn’t happen over night so I’m taking it one step at a time…

Running

Raise your hand if there’s ever been something you wanted to accomplish but were extremely slightly afraid to get started.

I know I’ve mentioned this before (at least somewhere along the way) but I aspire to be a runner. It’s not that I want to break some sort of record or plan to complete a 26 mile Marathon one day; it’s because I know it’s something I can do if I work hard enough at making it happen. Like any change in your life, getting started is half the battle. I’m overweight, more out of shape than I should be, and slightly scared but at the end of the day, I want to know that I could survive a zombie apocalypse (which, according to my friend Sarah over at The House of Boys & A Girl, is imminent). So I’m hitting the ground running, one step at a time, in an effort to become the person I aspire to be. I’m on the hunt for a good 5k at some point this fall that I want to run (yes, run) the entire 3.2 miles and I’m looking for some of you to join me. You don’t have to be local and we don’t have to run the same 5k but I’m looking for a few people who are interested in coming along on this journey with me. We can connect on Facebook, chat via email, or update each other through my blog. You might be wondering what you’ll get in exchange for running with me. In addition to keeping one another accountable and having that incredible sense of accomplishment when it’s all said and done, I’d also like to share a Body Glide stick with two of you (who will be randomly selected from people who comment on this post). What’s Body Glide, you ask?!

Body Glide For Her

Body Glide is a company that offers products for active people.

They’ve created a line of products for men, women, and children designed to combat the effects of blisters, chafing, and muscle soreness associated with exercise. The Body Glide for Her is made from plant-based ingredients and protects the skin while still allowing it to breath and perspire. I’ve personally used the Body Glide both when working out, and when wearing things that would otherwise tend to chafe and it works really well. I like that it goes on smooth and is dry instead of greasy.

If you want to challenge yourself to become a runner, or if you are already a runner and want to take it to the next level, comment on this post and we will get this party started together.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using <a rel=”nofollow” href=”http://www.tomoson.com/?code=BOTTOM3bbdf2c7c7df9c7163c439d2952695a8″>Tomoson.com</a&gt;. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

$100 Vitacost Gift Card Giveaway

Happy Monday, Everyone! I feel like I’ve fallen off of the face of the Earth these past few weeks and, although I’ve been trying to keep up with the It’s An Ordinary Blog Facebook page, I know I’ve dropped the ball when it comes to updating on here. Life has been crazy- C and I went out of town, we had a guest come in from out of state, I’ve had meetings, we had to deal with illness, etc, etc, etc. Life is never dull, right?! All that said, I wanted to share a pretty sweet opportunity with all of you. A few weeks ago, I received an invite to work with Vitacost.com on reviews and giveaways for my blog and they’ve got an incredible giveaway for all of you. Here are the details:

Here’s How to Enter:

WordPress hosts my blog and, even though I own my own domain, they like to implement certain rules so that Rafflecopter doesn’t display properly on my posts (everyone say, “BOO! WordPress! Fix that!”) As a result, you’re going to have to follow >>>>THIS LINK<<<< to enter. And one more time for good measure: $100 Vitacost Gift Card Entry Link

I’m really excited to be in partnership with so many incredible bloggers and Vitacost. If you haven’t had a chance to check out their website, I highly suggest you give it a gander. They’ve got so many great health, wellness, and an array of other products suited for your everyday needs. Hey, Look! It’s a Giveaway from Keira’s Kollection!

KKlogotitle2

I love small businesses (as evidenced by my reviews of Bumblefly and Buterbees and eKoffee.com). I especially love small businesses with a good message and it’s for that reason that I was so excited for the chance to try out one of the inspirational shirts from Keira’s Kollection. The good news is that you, too, can sport a fabulous inspirational shirt of your own! The company has offered to give one lucky reader an inspirational shirt (valued at up to $20). Why should you be excited?! Take a look at their mission:

inspire

In a world where the media’s standard of beauty is seemingly unattainable, it’s refreshing to see a company who encourages girls (and women) to not only be the best version of themselves, but also to recognize that they’re beautiful just as they are. This is a message that I’m very passionate about (you might remember my post Never Enough) and I wholeheartedly support organizations that strive to send this message out to society.

IMGP3689-531x800

I ordered the “Strong is Beautiful” shirt in a beautiful turquoise color. It’s just as adorable in person as it is online. I noticed in the product description a little note that said, “When in doubt, order up a size,” so I did exactly that. I figured that it was a clue that the shirt ran a little on the small size and I was right. Even ordering a size larger than what I normally wear at Old Navy or Target, the shirt is still a bit snug around my chest. I’m not sure if that’s how all of their tops run or not but I thought it was worth mentioning why I don’t have a picture sporting my new top (I’m not sure a photo of my chest in a tight shirt is something I want circulating around the internet).

The bottom line is this: I really like their clothing line. I love that they strive to support girls and women through their positive apparel and inspiring tops. They’ve got tops for toddlers, girls, and women and the message that each of them carries is pretty spectacular. Here are a few of my other favorites from their site:

                IMGP3562-300x400        IMGP1924-552x800        IMGP3281-531x800

There’s a pretty strong likelihood that I’ll be ordering matching “Strong is Beautiful” long sleeve shirts for myself and C to wear as she gets older. In the meantime, I know you’re all probably itching to find out how you can enter to win one of these fabulous shirts of your very own?!

Here’s what you need to do:

1. “Like” the It’s An Ordinary Blog Facebook page and post on the timeline letting me know what you like about Keira’s Kollection.

2. Head on over to the Keira’s Kollection Facebook page and post on their timeline letting them know I sent you.

That’s it! You’ll earn an entry for each post (one on my Facebook page and one on theirs). I’ll be sure to check back every day to get those entries added before randomly selecting a winner (via random.org) on Monday July 1st. Good luck!
