It’s Just Pictures! (Just Some Recent Photos)

With Easter last weekend we had a lot of great photo opportunities. I shared some of them on my Easter post and a couple more on posts throughout the week but here are the rest! Last Saturday we went to a great event in Blue Springs, Missouri (just outside Kansas City). It was sponsored by local church groups and a few businesses in the area and featured inflatables, games, live music, an Easter egg hunt for the children, and lunch for everyone who participated. My toddler enjoyed every bit of it (so much so that we had a hard time getting her out of the bounce house). Take a look:

Here’s one of my absolute favorites from Easter Sunday. I took this one at home while C was climbing up and down our stairs counting:

“One-Two-Three-Five-Seven-Nine-Ten!”

Somehow when we’re counting with her she remembers four, six, and eight but when she’s going at it solo the numbers seem to slip her mind.

Look Who’s Two!

C turned two years old on Saturday and so I thought I’d share a few recent pictures…Enjoy!

The Gateway To The West: Our Trip to St. Louis (With Pictures)

We had the opportunity to spend some time in St. Louis on Monday and enjoyed a trip to The Gateway Arch. I’d been there before but not since childhood and this was the first time either my husband or my daughter (that goes without saying) had ever seen it up close. My husband didn’t believe me when I told him that the Arch sways when it’s windy but he got to see first hand what I meant during our trip….Here are some pictures that I took.

It’s Just Pictures Series: The Toddler

I thought I would post some pictures I took yesterday evening of C. A little back story…I was making dinner and she climbed up onto the kitchen table and started drinking out of my water-glass. Instead of getting upset and making her get down right away, I embraced the moment. It isn’t often that she actually sits still long enough for me to snap some good pictures so I’ll take what I can get, know what I mean?!C will be two in less than a month, hard to believe time has gone by so quickly! Don’t you just wish it would slow down sometimes?!

On an unrelated note (before I forget)…I got special mail today from Nature Box, an awesome California-based company. I was contacted by them to do a review on their products and am so excited to share my thoughts with all of you (and to offer you a special surprise) so be on the lookout for that post the first week of February!

Where I’ve Been…

I went to bed last night with the promise that I would remind myself to write a post letting you all know where I’ve been the last couple of days…You may not have even noticed that I was gone or you may have wondered why I skipped out on Friday Fictioneers this week, either way I’m going to give you an update. A good friend of mine is having a baby (yay!) and is due in February. I had the privilege of co-hosting a small get together in her honor today and have been working on it during my free time the past few days. I’m planning to do a few tutorials but, in the meantime, I thought I’d share some pictures.

A Trip to the Zoo: Nashville Edition (with pictures!)

We are so blessed to have friends and family spread out throughout the country which awards us the opportunity to travel from here to there and there to here. My brother, who lives in North Carolina, was married this past spring and so we drove through Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, West Virginia, Virginia, and North Carolina on our journey. Along the way we were able to meet up with some friends in Nashville and spend a little time at their zoo. Here are some pictures I took during our trip:

It’s Just Pictures Series

Some time ago I took a bunch of pictures for a craft project that I didn’t end up using and, to be entirely honest, I don’t want them to go to waste so I thought it might be nice to share them periodically on here. I don’t claim to be a professional when it comes to photography so please excuse the quality of these photos.

History holds a very special place in my heart and here in Kansas City it’s never in short supply. The following pictures were taken just outside Kansas City in Independence, where President Harry Truman and his wife are buried. President Truman lived in Independence for several years and worked in the building where Clinton’s Soda Fountain (pictured below) has been in business since 1908. Additionally, the Church of Jesus Christ Of Ladder Day Saints believes that the Garden of Eden existed in Independence. Presently, Independence is host to many of the LDS/RLDS/FLDS visitors centers, the Truman Memorial, and an annual event called Santi-Cali-Gon days.

A Trip to the Zoo: St. Louis Edition (with pictures!)

I should have done this post a long time ago but I was just thumbing through the pictures from the trip we took at the end of September to meet up with my friend Becca (you can read her blog here) and her husband. The St. Louis Zoo is one of my absolute favorites and I hadn’t been since childhood.

This first picture was taken when we were at the “Penguin & Puffin Coast”. I really love how they have their exhibit set up. The chilled, indoor atmosphere is the ideal setting for these incredible animals and I imagine it’s a great place to chill out while visiting the zoo during the hot summer months that can be brutal in this area. As you can tell, C was just thrilled to see the penguins.

The rest of these pictures were taken at the various exhibits around the zoo. We were really lucky in that the weather was really nice and most of the animals were out.

I won’t deny that I giggled when I saw this:

We’ve been really lucky to have friends across the country and the zoo always seems like a great place to get together when you have little ones. This is the first installment of my “Zoo” posts. Next week, I’ll post our pictures from the Omaha Zoo trip we took in June (yes, we’re going out of order here).

What’s your favorite thing about the zoo?
